ABOUT
THE WORLDVIBRATIONS RADIO STATION & PODCASTER
The WorldVibrations
Radio Station & Podcaster was invented by Russell Johnson, a 30 year
veteran of commercial, public and Internet broadcasting and international
media projects in 56 countries.
Major assistance was provided by VIA Technologies Inc., one of the world's
leading designers of computer chipsets, microprocessors, and multimedia,
optical storage, communication and networking chips.
"The WorldVibrations Radio Station is an affordable unit about the
size of a VCR that integrates podcasting with an an on-air studio and
a production studio," says Johnson. "It offers users ranging
from individual artists and political action groups to multi-national
organizations access to an international audience very inexpensively.
Johnson also sees the device as a way to empower communities. Where laws
permit, it is easy to connect a traditional radio transmitter to the WVRS
and offer community service and truly local programming, a notion that
is fast disappearing as the ownership of media consolidates into the hands
of a few like minds. "This is a way for local communities and individual
artists and groups to gain a voice," says Johnson.
The WorldVibrations Radio Station is a product of Travelmedia Communications,
which has developed media solutions and projects for international clients
including governments, international organizations and corporations since
1982 and is a pioneer in the use of streaming media .
Russell Johnson, president of Travelmedia, is also known as The Connected
Traveler. His stories, photos, audio and video from around the world have
earned his web site accolades from numerous international publications.
Lonely Planet calls it Armchair travel at its best. Johnsons
own radio station, running on the WVRS, can be found at
www.connectedtraveler.com.
